I know that when *I* am presented with an interpersonal conflict that I have done nothing but completely avoid in the vain hopes that somehow that will force the other person to also completely avoid it (perhaps even legally, if I try hard enough) that I will often completely reconsider my stances on fundamental individual rights like the Freedom of Speech.
