I suspect an entire generation of men have internalized the notion that “using their words” to resolve conflict (which invariably temporarily increases conflict while this is happening) is negative, and so they see two alternatives:

be reticent to use a bunch of words to point anything out or defend themselves (as evidenced by the highly negative reactions they see of any man who does that, especially in relation to women) and be conflict avoidant,

or to use physical violence or other means instead so as not to appear small, weak, unmanly or a “little whiney bitch,” vulnerable, crazy, or otherwise.

It’s really high time people stop doing that, enforcing it, or internalizing it. Everyone deserves to have a voice and speak their thoughts and perspective. You don’t have to listen, or agree, but dismissing it because of bullshit just benefits those who wish to silence us. It does not benefit you.
