Why should they do so when they aren't educated about it? When they aren't fully aware of where eggs come from? Add a layer of disconnect between their daily life and the reality of life and death that exists, the nitty and gritty, and you've got yourself a society blind to such things.

When I was * 6 *, my father made two points simultaneously to me: that I could die at any moment from many things (with examples) and that I shouldn't worry if there's nothing I can do about it. Thus, every day I didn't die was good, and I could feel better about that instead of worrying needlessly.

People aren't having their kids face reality because they often never had to face the harsh reality of living either. It turns into an artificial floating world where the expectations, and, of most concern due to the dangers, the lack of care are out of sync with what is, no matter their acceptance.
