It turns out that BlueSky is not a very good alternative in my experience. There's a whole thing happening right now about my account on there being suspended and people speaking out about it.

There are accounts on there that have lobbied heinous accusations against me, repeatedly, and people with a fairly large audience (a former friend) repeating narratives from some of the worst "troll forums" on the Internet (and both causing my legal name and current address to be posted on them).

Turns out, I was right (again), BlueSky making it so 'drama' could basically be completely 'erased' by disconnecting any volatile conversation (so there was no public record) wasn't such a good idea, doesn't protect anyone but the 'right' people, and is leveraged by abusers who have things to hide.

Social media isn't looking so hot across the board right now. The things people seem to think will "improve" the situation do not improve the situation. What would improve it is transparency, honesty, and connection.
